Philanthopy

We're presently focusing our efforts on giving away our books to people who could benefit immensely from their use. Books are convenient, informative and/or entertaining tools that can help improve the lives of others. Many of us can recall the impact that a certain book has had on us and now it's time to share these books with others.

Book Giving Program

There are many people who would benefit from old or underappreciated books. Our program starts by offering our own resources while continuously seeking more.

Our goal is to allow people who need specific books to have access to generous donors. Preference should be given to the following recipients:

1. Underfunded institutional libraries & collections (i.e. schools, universities, churches, community centers, foreign language centers, literacy centers, and charitable organizations) whose students, clients, or members would immediately benefit from the use of specific books.

2. Students who immediately require certain books for classes but are currently unable to find or purchasing them.

3. Seniors who are less mobile and on a limited income.

4. People who would immensely benefit from the content of specific books (i.e. old and/or rare) but are presently unable to find and/or purchase them. Generally such people would agree to keep and/or give away the book after use.

5. People from countries or jurisdictions with limited resources (i.e. without libraries and bookstores) and are presently unable to find or purchase them.

6. If you live in the Washington, DC area, you may arrange to pick up a book or have one delivered by courier.

Donors acknowlege that:

1. Offering a book generally includes gratuitous shipping on your part. Fortunately for us, the US Postal Service offers special rates for the shipment of books ("Media Mail") so that we can ship our books directly to someone who needs it. Besides, the shipment of books costs about as much as a daily cup of your favorite beverage.

2. We offer books in the spirit of generosity and not to expect something in return.

3. You may list your books on this site until you've found an acceptable recipient.

4. You may request a list of potential recipients and select one amongst them; your book will be sent directly to recipients and not to the Argmaur Foundation.

5. You may label the interior of your book (e.g. "A gift from ___ Foundation").

6. If you live in the Washington, DC area, you may arrange to drop off a book or have one sent by courier.

We appreciate your efforts and hope that the recipients do as well.

If you would like to offer or request a book, please contact us at books@argmaur.org.
